Nov. ?" arrival circular datestamp, datelined "Rodney (Mississippi) 4 Nov. 1851", business contents, minor staining along horizontal file fold through address, Fine to Very Fine, Privately owned vessles transported mail between New Orleans and towns along the Mississippi River. The New Orleans postmaster required the ships to stamp the envelopes with the name of the ship on incoming mail. These were treated as Way letters at an additional charge of 1¢.
